Reflection Term 1

(1) What went well this term/ Term 1 Highlights? Ans: I got to be one of the many to go to the inter-school volleyball tournament. It was worth all the training in my opinion. Met up with some old mates, got to experience something outside of school. Also grateful for those normal days. It feels good to have one of those days where everything is normal and planned out the way I’m used to. Instead of having a trip in the morning where I have to weak up at the break of dawn.

(2) What is one of your favourite Achievements? Ans: Honestly it wasn’t any award or acknowledgement. I had a successful time in making sure all of my jobs and monitoring were done. I got my work finished and homework done the night before. My goal next term is to match that same day everyday. Make sure all of the jobs I committed to are done and my work is finished on time. Work school/home balance.

(3) What do you think you could have improved? Ans: I wish I could’ve been more positive about p.e  and just making sure I do what my father/mother would be proud of. Studies is getting more important than ever with heading into college, I want to be mentally prepared. It’s not about trying to be the smartest in the class but having the knowledge I need for college.

(4) What have I learnt? Ans: This term I have learnt more than I think I did last year term 4. In maths I learnt the algorithm strategy when working out long multiplication/long division. In English/Literacy I identified that the showing of your topic clearly at the start of your writing is called the “thesis statement”. In P.E  I actually just learnt of how volleyball is played. The six players and the positions.

Fun Run

First thing in the morning at school, I had to change into my sports uniform provided. That 5 minutes of changing got me thinking of how scared I was. There were supposedly 3 schools. I was scared I was going to humiliate/embarrass myself in front of all my peers. Was my hair done right? Was my uniform clean?

When we arrived at the location, there was no one waiting for us. It made me question whether we were going to do it at all. Had the trip been cancelled? It was on by the beautiful mission bay. The tide was low but the sea glimmered in the sun’s presence because It had been so early. We had gotten into our groups of what speed we wanted to go at. I had joined the walking group thinking that we were gonna be at a slow pace. To my surprise we were sprinting until our legs were shattered. It was 2.8 kilometers so not that far. At the 1.0km I was huffing and puffing like there was no air left.My hair was in my face, my eyes were irritated from the wind and it felt as if my heart skipped a beat. The heat was really getting to me but communicating with my friend call kept me sane. We talked the whole way to the 2.0km point.

The end was coming close and we had to run on the soft sand. My friend Losaline was not feeling right so I walked with her to the finish line. The BBQ after was I guess worth it. But I loved playing volleyball with the other schools.

The Food Groups

The food we consume are put into categories. There are 5 main groups. Fruit and vegetables, Carbohydrates, Proteins, Dairy, Fats and oils. The food provides us with the energy to get up in the morning. As all living things we need to consume for life.

Fruit and vegetables

This is the type of food that gives us vitamins and minerals. E.g Apples, bananas, broccoli. These keep our bodies working throughout the day. Energy and strength come with it as well. The fiber is to help our digestion system. The digestion system is very important to our bodies.

Carbohydrates

E.g Pasta, rice, and bread. These help to keep our energy up. Too much of it can lead to gaining weight. They are known as sugar molecules. These can be found in your everyday foods and drinks. Your body breaks down these carbohydrates into glucose.

Proteins

E.g chicken mince, lamb. These are your proteins. These build healthy strong muscles that are good for you. Don’t get these confused with KFC and Mcdonald’s. Those have a high amount of oils. But they are still protein. This can be found in a powder form.

Fats and oils

These are big amounts of oil or butter. Some foods have good oils in them like avocados. Too much can also lead to weight gain. But as they say, too much of something good is bad.

A good diet is a balanced diet.

What Happens next – Robot Rampage

Thursday 17th August 2023

Hemi had been discovered as the creator of the robot. The robot had gone rogue and tried to kill the people of his town.

The crowd came yelling and decided to scream at the boy Hemi.

The children started running while the robot created wildfires and destruction of the small buildings. Hemi thought to himself and started to create another machinery to defeat his

Previous creation.

With his head covered by a helmet he grinded up a microwave, old tv, parts of his bike,

And a laptop.

He named it the ¨Lawnmower Destroyer¨.

The robot used it´s sharp edges from the old TV to slice right through the mower’s center. The people praised Hemi for saving them. And they lived

MOTAT Experiences/Memories

Monday 7th August

Motat Trip.

My favorite part of the MOTAT Trip was going to the telecommunication enter and learning about the olden day communication. It was just so cool and vintage of how thatś what the 90ś looked like. Did you know that  Alexander Graham Bell won the first U.S. patent for the device in 1876. There were a bunch of different things in that room including morse code and the spinning thing on the telephone. Normally I enjoy looking at the aircrafts bt oddly I loved that room. That was even a telephone post for ringing.

My least favorite part would have to be when I found out one of my close friends had her last day that day. I had only known her for 2 weeks but immediately bonded. My second least favorite would probably be the underground tunnel of the trains station. I don;t know but i just felt claustrophobic with all the dark.
